INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

Welcome to ENS!

A message from DEVE
First, let’s introduce the DEVE (Direction des études et de la vie étudiante): we are the two deans of studies – Roland Béhar for Humanities and Clotilde Policar for Science. We will be very happy to welcome you at ENS in September.

We will do our best to ensure your arrival in Paris and at ENS is as smooth and pleasant as possible. To help you with everything you need to do before and when you arrive, you will get help from the staff of CoST (the student registry of ENS, which also includes the admissions office and the graduate studies office) and the Welcome Desk of PSL, the university to which the ENS belongs.

You may be worried about your French, which is perhaps not as good as you would like it to be. But you shouldn’t : ECLA (the language center of ENS) offers both an intensive training session in September, and weekly classes in different levels throughout the year.

Please make sure to give this document a read: it includes everything you need to know and do in order to land safely at ENS-PSL. And if you still have questions, check our Frequently Asked Question about orientation. Wherever you are – welcome to ENS !

Whatever your level of French you will find at the ENS courses of French language and culture to help you in your studies and daily life in Paris.

A free intensive French course is offered to students of all levels. A programme of cultural activities in Paris, guided by a former ENS international student, will also help you improve your French and discover French culture.

PSL Welcome Desk

ENS is part of a wider university called PSL, which offers services to all its students, including a Welcome Desk for international students. Its staff will answer all your questions about travel, accommodation or FLE (French as a foreign language) courses.
