Information
This event is organised by the Public AI Network: a collaboration between Chatham House, Stichting Internet Archive, Aspen Digital, AI Objectives Institute, Public Knowledge, Metagov and Open Future.
There is a growing recognition of the need to create public AI infrastructure that advances the common good. In labs, libraries and agencies worldwide the work to build these systems is already underway.
The Public AI Congress, organized by the Public AI Network during the Paris AI Action Summit, will convene leading builders to amplify early progress and align on the crucial next steps needed to support the development of public AI infrastructure.
Chaired by Alex Krasodomski (Director, Digital Society Programme, Chatham House), speakers include:
- Dr. Magnus Sahlgren, Head of Research for Natural Language Understanding, AI Sweden
- Adriana Groh, CEO Sovereign Tech Agency, Germany
- Dr. Alexander Ilic, Head of ETH AI Center, Switzerland
- Dr. Marta Villegas, Leader of the Language Technologies Unit, Barcelona Supercomputing Center, Spain
- Prof. Petri Myllymäki, Director of External Relations, Ellis Institute, Finland
- Brandon Jackson, Product Lead, Metagov
- Dr. Joshua Tan, Co-Founder and Research Director, Metagov
These leaders will share the latest success stories and emerging best practices from their efforts to develop public AI systems. This will be followed by a roundtable discussion which aims to align on shared challenges facing the community—and create a sense of possibility about what we can achieve by building together.
The Congress represents an opportunity for public-interest builders to connect with each other and identify areas for common effort across the entire stack, from compute and data to models and auditing.
Please note that this official AI Action Summit Side event is taking place in-person in Paris, France. The venue has been carefully selected to facilitate meaningful dialogue and networking opportunities among participants. Attendees will receive the event location and directions once approved.
